6th day of Chinese New Year. My healthy Brunch to start my day. Having BREMNER’S Mango and Carrot Juice. This is a Canadian product bought from Mustafa Supermarket in Singapore.

Pan fry an Egg with 1 tsp Butter and topped with a slice of Sour Dough Bread all done together in my new Stainless Steel 316 small pan, the latest product; then served with Maggie Seasoning and Pepper. I also have a Nescafe Gold with Full Cream Milk without Sugar.

Bamboo Shoots

6th day of Chinese New Year, Wishing everyone Shun Shun Li Li. The word Shun means Smooth. Sounds like 笋 (Sun in Han Yu Pin Yin )the Chinese word for Bamboo Shoots. I am using these preserved Bamboo Shoots to cook an auspicious dish today.

On 6th day of Chinese New Year it is a tradition in my family to cook an auspicious dish using preserved Bamboo Shoots from China as Bamboo Shoot known as 笋 Sun as pronounced in Hanyu Pinyin resembles 顺 Shun, meaning Smooth, wishing all smooth in the new year. Let me show you how I wrap my Hokkien Popiah (Fresh Spring Roll) Step by Step. Mine is special as I draw a $ sign with the Black Sweet Sauce on the Popiah Skin. My wish to everyone to prosper. HUAT, HUAT, HUAT AH!

Our afternoon snack on 7th day Chinese New Year. Pan fried Nian Gao 年糕 (Glutinous Rice Cake specially for Chinese New Year) dipped in beaten egg. Fragrant and tasty. Served with Hawthorn Hot Drink. A Good match.

Today is the 9th day of Chinese New Year. Wishing everyone 长长九九 everlasting in all goods they have been blessed.

I created a DONBURI with Golden Oyster Fritters, Braised 发菜 Fatt Choy in Cantonese pronunciation (i.e. Black Moss) with Red Dates in my GEISHA CAT’S Special Ginger Sauce. It is believed that FATT CHOY brings Prosperity and RED DATE 红枣 brings good luck for the whole year. In Chinese we say 吃红枣,通年好。My beloved Samurai is enjoying this special DONBURI.
