Some Sharing
Kamaboko
This is Japanese Fish Cake, known as KAMABOKO in Japanese. The packing has the steamed Fish Cake set on a small wooden board by the manufacturers. We can cut the KAMABOKO into slices and form patterns which we wash and boil them before eating.
Recipe Sharing: TauKwa, Leek & Kamaboko in Geisha CAT Special Ginger Sauce
I bought Japanese KAMABOKO (Japanese Fish Cake) to cook this dish known as Taukwa (Soya Bean Cake), Leek with Kamaboko in GEISHA CAT’s Special Ginger Sauce. First I cut 8 stalks Chinese Leek diagonally to slices. It is available during Chinese New Year season…(read more…)

Dinner
Today is 12th day of Chinese New Year. Wishing everyone A Happy Prosperous Year 2021. We came to SHIMBASHI SOBA@PARAGON to have our Special Soba Yusheng with Salmon and Abalone in Yuzu Sauce. This tastes better than the Chinese Restaurants’ Yusheng we had so far. We also ordered other dishes to go with it. Feeling Happy and Satisfied.

Nian Gao
I am a fan of Chinese New Year Nian Gao 年糕,also known as Tnee Kueh in Hokkien and the Indonesian called this Kue Bakul. We can only get these just before Chinese New Year.
When they get hardened I usually cut them into slices and store in the fridge. Then can steam it to soften and eat it with steamed Coconut added with a little Salt or deep fried with Sweet Potato or Yam coated with a batter.

Juice
This reduced sugar FRUIT TREE Brand Soursop Juice Drink comes with Nata De Coco is very refreshing to start my day. Going out soon to run my errands. Have a blessed day everyone.
Lunch
Came to Vivo City to run some errands. It is nearly lunch time so I am having Mee Rebus with Coffee (all in at S$4.50/-.) @ ENCIK TAN, basement, just directly opposite McDonald.
Enjoying the good taste.
New Microwave
Happy with my smart purchase of SHARP microwave. Only spent S$39 after my UOB UNI$ Instant Redemption of S$100. What a Smart Purchase!
New Snack
My good friend came visiting this afternoon. Created a new way of eating Nian Gao 年糕 with Hum Cheen Peng 咸煎饼 and Cheese to enjoy together。
First use scissors to cut Hum Cheen Peng to twos. Stuff a slice of cut Nian Gao in it and use oven toaster to toast till Nian Gao soften. Slap half a slice of Cheese on top of Hum Cheen Peng and toast for 1 minute.
The combination is so good. A bite will taste the nice 5 spice flavour and fragrance from Hum Cheen Peng with the soft chewy sweet taste from Nian Gao and the sticky Cheese that melts in the mouth. The taste is out of the world. Happy with my creation today.

Chap Gor Meh
Today is the 15th day of Chinese New Year. The Hokkiens call today as CHAP GOR MEH. In Penang unmarried ladies used to “Tim Kum, Chue Hoh Ang”, in Hokkien it means throw Mandarin Oranges to get good husband.
I came from Penang, but I don’t remember throwing Mandarin Oranges, instead I ate all. But I am blessed by a good husband, my beloved Samurai.

Reflections on Chinese New Year 2021
My 2021 Chinese New Year was a good and blessed one. Received a big Ang Bao of Blessings from my beloved Samurai, had several rounds of tossing Yusheng, created a new way of stuffing Nian Gao into Hum Cheen Peng, toast it and slab a slice of Cheese on top.
How about Poon Choy盆菜? This is another favourite. Can cook it after the festive is over as I still have Abalones, Fish Maws kept in my pantry. Now let my weight stabilised first.
Breakfast
Not sure if you can get this Made in Taiwan QUAKER Instant Oatmeal with Black Rice and Mountain Yam(山药) in your country but I got this in Singapore supermarket in Vivo City.
I start my day by boiling 4 TBS Oatmeal in 400ml water, add in 4 Cherry Tomatoes, 2 TBS Japanese Dried Clams with Wakame chips and 2 stalks of cut Chinese Celery roughly cut. I didn’t add any Salt because the dried Wakame is salty enough.
I paired it with a cup of Nescafe Gold with full cream milk without sugar. Healthy way to start my day.
