An East meets West dish I created using store bought Yong Taufu 酿豆腐(Eggplant, Green Chillies, Okra, Tofu stuffed with fresh Fish Paste). I created this Curry flavoured Yong Taufu Au Gratin.
First, I have 9 pieces store bought raw Yong Taufu.
Than I have 2 cups of cooked Barley Grains which I saved from boiling Barley water, strained and kept in my freezer, to thaw before using.
I also need 2 TBS Fish Curry Power which I mix with 1/4 cup water and a 200ml packet of thick Coconut Cream added with 1/2 tsp Salt and 1/2 tsp Sugar.
Finally, I prepare some grated Cheddar and Mozzarella Cheese.
First I grease a Pyrex Baking Dish with some Butter, scatter a layer of Barley Grains.
Next, arrange Yong Taufu over, top with a layer of grated Cheese.
Next, another layer of Barley Grain, then pour over the Curry mixture with Coconut Milk Mixture to cover all ingredients.
The final layer will be spread with Cheese.
Bake in a preheated oven 200 degree Celsius for about 35 minutes till surface becomes golden brown.
Remove from oven, cut to wedges to serve. This portion serves 3 pax. The flavour is out of the world. I am glad to create this dish with success.
